How Does Shopify Do Email Marketing?

Some data shows that for every $1 a company spends on email marketing (EDM), it gets more than $40 back. However, the first step to good email marketing is that you need to get a certain number of email addresses first, which means you need a certain number of subscribers.

But how do you convince people to sign up for your emails? Why not try these 8 methods.

  1. Use “exit pop-ups” to attract visitors with coupons

We will notice that some websites will have pop-ups when you enter. Although login and registration pop-ups are also effective, using an exit pop-up is a lot less “mandatory” and a better experience. You can create an opt-out pop-up with the help of a software tool that tracks the user’s mouse movements and calculates when they are about to click the back button or close a window or tab, and then, in time, shows your offer to the visitor, retaining them and eventually converting them from mere visitors to valuable email subscribers.

  1. Provide exclusive offers for visitors who visit multiple times

If you find that a visitor has “lingered” in your store several times, but just hasn’t made the next move, then it’s safe to assume that they are interested in your products, and you may just need to give some extra “excitement” to this group of visitors. And these prospects are more valuable than new visitors, so to get them to subscribe to your newsletter emails, you can create specific personalized emails for them, and You’d better be able to give them substantial support such as discount or free gift at their first order.

  1. Provide new products “green channelservice” for email subscription users

Another way to attract visitors to subscribe to you is to provide them with exclusive access to new product launches and early deals, or content that they can’t get elsewhere, so that they subscribe to you for fear of missing out on your content or products.

  1. Provide your audience with the content they want

The factors that can motivate visitors to subscribe to your email list don’t necessarily have to be transaction-related. Because sometimes, they are not sure what they want to buy, or what confusion or problems they encounter that they can’t solve. Therefore, you need to identify the problems your audience is currently facing and then create content that will help them solve their problems and direct them to your products. To know what kind of content will appeal to your audience, it’s important to do some “social listening” to see what kind of content your competitors are producing and what’s hot in your space. From there, create guides, courses, eBooks, videos, etc. that really engage your audience.

  1. Place an opt-in bar or banner on the home page

In addition to pop-ups, you can keep the sign-up email somewhere on the home page to encourage people to sign up. Or add a banner at the bottom of the screen that will float with the user’s interface as they navigate through your site, including appearing on the home page and product pages, or even the checkout page. Many Shopify stores will also place the sign-up box in the footer. Visitors who want to subscribe to your email newsletter will see it here

  1. Create landing page for email registration

Data shows that using specific landing pages for email acquisition can increase conversion rates by as much as 50%.

You can throw in multiple “draws” on the landing page, and the landing page also provides more space to explain your product or the benefits of signing up for an email list.

A good email landing page should also include “social proof” such as customer testimonials, star ratings for your product or the number of subscribers to your emails, all of which encourage other visitors to sign up for your email list. Also, after creating a dedicated landing page for email signups, you can add links to that page on other platforms to promote it. For example, you can add the link to an email signature or promote it on social media so that people can jump directly to the signup page and subscribe to your emails through that link.

  1. Hold a raffle or giveaway activity, participants need to leave their email address

Holding a sweepstakes is a great way to get your email address quickly. And, the added benefit of a sweepstakes is “shareability”, as people may market your event and store to their friends and family to increase their winning rate. You can design a simple pop-up that allows participants to leave their email address. But be aware that your sweepstakes needs to follow these rules: -Provide meaningful, valuable prizes -Provide social sharing buttons -Develop a theme that engages your audience -Include a countdown timer on the page to create a sense of urgency -Track the follow-up of the sweepstakes

  1. Create a discount carousel

Gamification of the steps and process of getting an email address. People are usually curious and lucky enough to want to participate in the game and try their luck.

The condition for visitors to participate in the spin game is to enter their email address in order to spin the reels.

I believe that by using a mixture of these marketing techniques, you should be able to gain many subscribers and build a good foundation for your EDM.
